Allantoin premium in cosmetics

Before describing the super properties of allantoin, I would like to say a few words about its origin. Allantoin can be of both synthetic and natural origin. It can be obtained from plants such as comfrey, germinated wheat or rice husks. But sometimes you can find a ready-made cosmetic component that contains a high content of allantoin in its composition, such as snail mucin Poly hexylan. Not for nothing Korean cosmetics manufacturers so often use snail extract in their formulations.

Dosage: 0.1 - 1 %

Solubility: in water

Use: Allantoin is recommended to be added to the water phase at a temperature of about 40-50°C, in this case it shows the best solubility. But it can also be dissolved at about 25°C with constant stirring. For the best solubility of the component, a water to dry matter ratio of 100 g - 0.5 g is recommended. Allantoin retains stadicity at a pH of 3.0 to 8.0. Example of dissolution variants of premium allantoin from Beurre shop:

• in water at 20°C - 0.4%
• in water at 75°C - 4%
• in ethanol at 20°C - 0.1%
• glycerine solution (5% in water) at 20°C - 0.8%
• sodium laureth sulfate (30%) at 20°C - 0.8%
• sodium cocoyl glutamate (30%) at 20°C - 0.8%

Storage: store in a dark, dry place at room temperature. Protect from moisture and direct sunlight.

Properties and application of allantoin for skin

Allantoin is widely used in the cosmetics industry in various creams. It has a wide range of effects on the skin:

• has a keratolytic effect, promotes the separation of dead cells and thereby softens the stratum corneum
• stimulates tissue regeneration (has a healing effect)
• is included in the composition of cosmetics to narrow pores
• prevents clogging of pores, the formation of camedones and inflammatory elements
• used in the care of irritated and damaged skin, including after frostbite or sunburn. It is often included in the composition of cosmetics for use in aggressive environmental conditions
• minimises the irritating effects of harsh surfactants.
   

Allantoin for hair

This component is often used in home cosmetics in the manufacture of hair care products. Thanks to its keratolytic action, allantoin helps to cleanse the scalp, is included in anti-dandruff formulations, and also helps to normalise the sebaceous glands of the scalp, thus bringing oily hair closer to normal hair.

Special applications

One of the main magical properties of allantoin is its ability to inhibit bacterial growth. Such a function has determined its widespread use in foot care products, in the production of deodorants and antiperspirants, as well as in shaving products.
