Natural amino acid surfactant AMISOFT CS-22 from L-glutamic acid
Beurre Shop offers you to buy hypoallergenic and environmentally friendly surfactant for the production of natural cosmetics, the source of which is L-glutamic acid. Surfactant Amisoft CS-22 is a slightly acidic substance that does not dry out the skin and does not irritate the mucosa of the eye, because its pH is equal to the pH of the skin. Amisoft CS-22 from the Japanese manufacturer Ajinomoto is a completely new level of surfactant for the creation of washing and cleansing cosmetics.

Application of Amisoft CS-22 in cosmetics
Among the anionic surfactants based on amino acids developed by Ajinomoto, the AMISOFT® series is particularly popular because it exhibits noticeable moisturising properties when added to formulations. As this series is hypoallergenic and environmentally friendly, it can be used in many applications (including baby or eye care cosmetics) without risk.
Amisoft CS-22 surfactant is an aqueous solution of Amisoft CS-11 (Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate) surfactant, which is available in powder form, making it slightly difficult to dissolve during cosmetic preparation. Surfactant Amisoft CS-22 is based on the amino acid L-glutamic acid and is well suited for use as a mild cleansing agent. Its pH is identical to that of the skin, so the surfactant is very gentle on the skin. After a number of studies, it has been proven that Amisoft CS-22 does not dry the skin and leaves it feeling moisturised after washing. Doesn't that sound strange? Because usually surfactants only dry out the skin and cause irritation on the skin after washing. This effect is due to the gentle action of Amisoft CS-22 on the NMF found in our skin. Our NMF is 42% composed of various amino acids and 12% of PCA. And the gentle action of Amisoft CS-22 is precisely to limit the damage to the skin's natural moisturisers. In the graph you can see the effect of different types of surfactants on the level of amino acids and PCA in the skin after their use.
Foaming properties
Amisoft CS-22 surfactant exhibits excellent foaming properties both as a basic surfactant and as a co-surfactant to improve foaming. You may notice in the graph where Amisoft's foaming curve is very different from that of Ajinomoto's other surfactant ranges: the green line shows the highest foaming efficiency just in the slightly acidic pH range, which is natural for our skin.
How to make a shampoo formula
How to get good cleansing from shampoo, but still retain conditioning properties and protect hair from damage. Let's explore the strategy proposed by the Japanese company Ajonomoto to develop a shampoo formulation based on their surfactants. Their amino acid shampoo formula combines Amisoft CS-22 anionic surfactant and cationic polymers (such as polyquaternium, silk guar). You can see the table of inputs of these or other components below.
Advantage of use in your formulations
- mild cleanser with good skin compatibility
- hypoallergenic
- ecological friendliness - high biodegradability
- reduces dryness after washing
- can be used both as a foam enhancer and as the main surfactant in sulphate-free formulations
- does not irritate the ocular mucosa
- vegetable origin (L-glutamic acid is obtained from sugar cane)
- mild action on sensitive skin, in children's cosmetics, in products for delicate skin around the eyes
- conditions the hair and retains moisture.
