Aqua Shuttle - skin moisturising ingredient

Aqua Shuttle is a moisturising complex developed using nanotechnology, which is used as an ingredient in cosmetic products and gives an amazing effect on the skin: a feeling of youthfulness, freshness and health.

Component characteristics and usage

INCI: Water, glycerine, sorbitol, laminaria digitata extract, lecitin, xanthan gum, diatomaceous earth

Dosage: 1 - 10%.

Use: Dissolve in water, in the active phase, in a water vase before emulsification or add directly to the warm emulsion and stir thoroughly until dissolved.

Storage: in a dry dark place in a tightly closed package at temperatures up to 25˚C.

Cosmetic properties and recipe applications

Aqua Shuttle represents a new concept in moisturising products that mimics the skin's natural hydration. By taking as a model the diatom algae (unicellular eukaryote) found in marine ecosystems, it was possible to mimic their nature and reproduce the structure of such algae, allowing active ingredients to be encapsulated in the core of these sponge-like structures.

Based on this technology, an innovative process has been developed to encapsulate the main active ingredients: glycerin, sorbitol and, most importantly, Digitata kelp.

During application, they are released through a controlled-release system into the skin, providing effective and long-lasting moisturisation. Aqua Shuttle combines encapsulated active ingredients that prevent transepidermal moisture loss (TEWL) and adds hygroscopic agents to maintain and/or restore hydration balance.
 

How the moisturising complex works on the skin

The composition of the active ingredient provides this care:

• Minerals. Provide hygroscopicity in order to maintain and, in special cases, restore the hydration balance
• Polysaccharides: hygroscopicity Hydrogen bonds between water molecules protect against excessive loss of H2O.
• Create a protective film on the skin, delaying or helping to avoid moisture loss.
• Sorbitol: moisturiser
• Glycerin: prevents transepidermal moisture loss
• The whole complex can attract water and the environment back into the skin.

Efficacy proven

by In vivo tests:

• hydration after 8 hours and 24 hours
• Aqua-shuttle 4% vs. hyaluronic acid at 0.5% and 0.3% (hydration)
• Aqua-shuttle 8% vs. hyaluronic acid at 1% and 0.8% (hydration)

test results: 81% (Aqua-Shuttle) vs. 63% (hyaluronic acid) 1 hour after application, 41% vs. 21% after 4 hours.
