Concentrated sea water is a useful powder in cosmetology
Dry mineral powder from atomized water is obtained thanks to a special two-stage production process. As a result, the finished product concentrates all the minerals from sea water: magnesium, potassium and sodium, but does not contain a high concentration of salt. The undeniable positive effect of sea minerals is confirmed by the benefits of bathing in the Dead Sea or thalassotherapy procedures. The sea water is produced by the French factory NUWEN by Setalg, built on a peninsula near the sea, in the middle of a unique European marine protected area. This plant is dedicated to the production, processing and valorization of natural marine and terrestrial products.
Ingredient characteristics and indications for use
INCI: Maris sal
Dosage: 0.1 - 3%
Solubility: In water and oil. In ethanol (becomes a white solution).
Remarks for use: May disturb gel systems and reduce their viscosity. It is recommended to be introduced at the last stage of emulsification to avoid disturbing emulsion formation. The optimum pH of the finished product with atomized seawater is between 3.0 and 10.0. The product is thermostable and heating above 40 C is allowed.
Storage: Store in a dry, dark place in tightly closed containers. Protect from high humidity and direct sunlight.
Production Method
In order to obtain atomized seawater, special basins are built near the coast where sea salt accumulates over time. Usually at the end of the summer, when the salt concentration is at its highest, it is collected and thus the pools contain seawater purified of salt (NaCl) but enriched with magnesium, calcium and other seawater elements.

Then comes the second stage of production, the drying of seawater, which is done in two stages to maximize the concentration of sea minerals.

Atomized Seawater Composition
The specific two-step process of dry atomized water production produces a mineral powder that specifically concentrates minerals from seawater, but does not contain a high concentration of salt. It contains a high concentration of magnesium, potassium and sodium minerals. The undeniable positive effects of sea minerals are confirmed by the benefits of bathing in the Dead Sea or thalassotherapy procedures.
The table comparing the content of the most important minerals in ordinary sea salt and in atomized sea water clearly shows the advantages of using the latter. As you can see, the magnesium content in atomized water is almost 100,000 times higher than in ordinary seawater.

Because of this high mineral concentration, atomized seawater is very economical when used in cosmetics. As little as 1% of dry matter will provide the following mineral concentration in the final product.

Benefits of use in cosmetics
The main benefits of using atomized water are based on the effect of magnesium on the skin. Among all the minerals, magnesium is known for its anti-inflammatory properties on the skin. A number of clinical studies have confirmed the following effects on the skin
Anti-inflammatory effects: Clinical studies have shown that magnesium deficiency leads to an increased inflammatory response of skin cells.
Redness associated with inflammation: clinical studies have shown that a daily 15-minute bath in a saline solution containing 6 g/kg of magnesium reduces skin redness and irritation.
The high magnesium content gives atomized seawater moisturizing properties. Magnesium is known to increase the skin's ability to retain water. Clinical studies have shown that transepidermal water loss is reduced when bathing in a saline solution with a magnesium concentration of 6 g/kg.
Many well-known cosmetic ingredient manufacturers have added assets to their product lines - mineral complexes based on magnesium. In addition to its undeniable anti-inflammatory properties, magnesium is also credited with increasing skin cell energy, collagen synthesis and tissue detoxification. Just think of how many Israeli cosmetics based on Dead Sea minerals have been popular for decades. And if we take into account the fact that atomized water contains not only magnesium, but also potassium, the effect of moisture retention in the skin increases many times over.
Atomized sea water is a natural raw material that is well tolerated by the skin and is easily used in the production of cosmetics because of its water-soluble form. And this solubility gives a very good compatibility with the skin.
Fields of application
It is used in cosmetics, bathing, balneology, thalassotherapy and various cosmetic procedures. It is recommended for the care of dry skin, for remineralization and for restoring the natural radiance of the skin. It is mixed with powder packs and masks to enhance the energizing and toning effect on the skin.
