Ceramides - essential components for the skin
The skin is the largest organ in the body. And it has its own special function - a barrier function, which is provided by our skin. What does it protect us from? From mechanical impact, drying out, UV rays, but most importantly - from pathogens.
What is skin and how you can restore its protective layer and microbiome read in Blog Beurre "What skin consists of and how to restore its health", as well as the article "Microbiome: how to restore facial skin".
Characteristics of the component and features of use
INCI: Water (Aqua) Aqua, Phospholipid, Sphingolipids Preserving system: phenoxyethanol and potassium sorbate.
Dosage: 5-10 %. Solubility: in water at temperature up to 35 ˚C.
Usage: dissolve in water or in the active phase. When adding to creams, it is recommended to add the component at the last stage of preparation with gentle stirring. Recommended pH level of the finished product is 3.0 - 10.0.
Storage: in a dry, dark place in a tightly closed container at a temperature of 10 - 20 °C, protected from direct sunlight. Temporary transport at a different temperature is permitted.
Ceramides in cosmetics
Thanks to the special secretion produced by the glands, many microorganisms cannot even gain a foothold on the skin surface, let alone penetrate deep into human organs. If the skin barrier is good, it creates a pH level that is not comfortable for bacteria and viruses - they cannot develop in it. As such, the body does not need to strengthen the "defence" function. The main thing is not to prevent the skin from doing its job. And this is the most difficult thing.
Every day we are faced with a large number of factors that affect the condition of the shells not in the best way. This is dirty air, and excessive sun, and bad habits, and poor nutrition ... Add to this hard tap water, unscrupulous removal of cosmetics, stress, and you get a sad statistic - 8 out of 10 women need to restore the lipid layer. That's why cosmetologists and dermatologists advise to first restore the barrier, saturate the skin with ceramides, and then "bathe" in moisturising creams and other beauty products.
What are ceramides, or ceramides
Wikipedia gives a complex definition of ceramides - it is the simplest of the sphingolipid type, a subclass of molecules consisting of sphingosine and a fatty acid. Simply put, they are natural lipids that combine with cholesterol and fatty acids to form the protective layer of the dermis. If there are enough ceramides, the cell divides, grows, ages and dies - everything according to plan. It has enough moisture and the lower layers are safely protected from microorganisms. It is easy to explain what ceramides are made of. There are 2 components: fatty acids and amino alcohol.
Ceramides, like many other substances important for health, our body produces on its own. Up to a time, it does not need additional sources. But with age, due to improper care and under the influence of aggressive environmental factors, the natural production of ceramides is disrupted. A 16-year-old girl is not afraid of washing with hard water, lack of fatty acids in the body and abuse of the sun. But when ceramides are not produced in the same volume, you need help in the form of special products with the right chemical composition. If you ignore the restoration of the barrier, it is not long before peeling, irritation, acute reaction to the sun, wind and frost will manifest itself in all its "glory".
Cosmetics with ceramides: which is better
Developers of anti-aging and medical cosmetics are trying to help the beautiful half in the fight against dryness and dehydration. Ceramide complexes can be found in many brands (Elizabeth Arden, Organic Kitchen, CeraVe, etc.). The price of ceramides, or rather, products with them in their composition, often bites. You can take the path of least resistance, and lay out a tidy sum for a product of European or American production (which often have silicone in their composition, which is harmful to the skin). But you can do more sensible - buy German Ceramide Complex CLR, and make a cream, emulsion or mask yourself. Ceramide Complex CLR contains 2% lipids in liquid crystalline form. And the plant-derived lipid mixture consists of at least 10% sphingolipids.
The properties of ceramides complex in hair cosmetics
- ceramides restore the keratin layer along the entire length;
- have a softening and moisturising effect on the scalp;
- ceramides moisturise and nourish the hair;
- increase hair density and stimulate hair growth;
- facilitate care and styling after colouring and perming.
Why you should buy ceramides
Ceramides are suitable for all skin types, and the reviews confirm this. They give your skin the protection it needs and also perform a number of functions:
- revitalises the skin;
- strengthens the lipid mantle;
- protects against environmental factors;
- gives prevention of ageing.
