Peculiarities of introduction into emulsion: in case of “straight” emulsion, addition of ceramide complex can sharply reduce the viscosity of the final product. This is due to rearrangement of liquid crystal structures in the emulsion. The stability of the emulsion is not affected by the decrease in viscosity. To increase the viscosity of the final product it is recommended to introduce fatty alcohols or glyceryl stearate into the formulation. For more homogeneous distribution of ceramide complex in the final emulsion it is recommended to introduce ceramide complex into the aqueous phase immediately before emulsification. Short-term heating of ceramide complex up to 80°C is allowed Ceramide complex is incompatible with cationic components.
Ceramidecomplex (or also called ceramides) is a concentrated preparation consisting of several lamellar (membrane) systems resembling the structure of the lipid barrier in the stratum corneum of the skin. Application of SK-INFLUX® V will result in increased moisturization and protection, ultimately leading to less sensitive and less dry skin.The concentrated blend of different types of ceramides, cholesterols, free fatty acids and phytosphingosines makes it an ideal ingredient for cosmetic products with unique restorative capabilities.
The importance of ceramides:
- 1. contribute greatly to the barrier function of the stratum corneum;
- 2. represent the largest and most abundant part of the stratum corneum lipids;
- 3. Together with cholesterol and free fatty acids, they form an ordered bilayer membrane of the stratum corneum;
- 4. help to keep the stratum corneum moisturized by retaining a certain amount of water molecules;
- 5. are important signaling molecules that regulate the rate of maturation (differentiation) of keratinocytes into corneocytes. This function is inherent only to ceramides having sphingosine as a base.
The addition of ceramide complexes to cosmetic products allows:
- 1. Accelerate the restoration of a complete skin barrier;
- 2. Improve the barrier properties of the epidermis;
- 3. Reduce skin sensitivity to unfavorable effects of aggressive environmental factors;
- 4. Improve skin elasticity and firmness;
- 5. Combat signs of xerosis;
- 6. Prevent premature aging of the skin.
The ceramide complex has a wide range of practical applications, for oil-in-water emulsions:
- 1. moisturizing products (lotions, cream gels, fluids)
- 2. anti-aging and anti-wrinkle products (creams, masks, fluids)
- 3. skin repair products (nourishing masks and creams)
- 4. skin protection products (creams, cream-gels, serums)
This complex contains two ceramides with different properties and characteristics.
Ceramide NP (Ceramide 3). A short-chain saturated ceramide. The peculiarity of short-chain ceramides is their affinity with proteins of the stratum corneum of the skin and hair keratin. Due to the formation of hydrogen bond bridges with skin proteins, this ceramide leads to a noticeable lifting effect (visual tightening of the skin and smoothing of fine lines).
Ceramide EOS (Ceramide 1). A long-chain ceramide containing linoleic acid. It permeates multilayer lipid layers and “sews” them together due to double bonds of linoleic acid, ensures the continuity of the lipid layer, is the main component of the outer lipid “shell” of the corneocyte, contributes to the maintenance of skin hydration, forms a “landing” place for the proteins of the inner layer of the “shell” of the corneocyte, has an informational function, this ceramide is a signaling molecule for the differentiation and keratinocyte keratinization. Low content of ceramide EOS in the skin correlates with an increased risk of neurodermatitis. The content of ceramide EOS in the skin decreases with age.Products with this ceramide are recommended as express remedies for flaking, hypersensitivity, dryness and other signs of impaired skin barrier function, xerosis.
Phytosphingosine is present both in free form and as a component of some epidermal lipids - ceramides. In the process of studying individual sphingoid bases, scientists have identified a number of properties, namely: a pronounced anti-inflammatory effect, manifested already in small doses, as well as a pronounced antimicrobial and antifungal effect. Currently, phytosphingosine can be recommended as a cosmetic component used for a wide variety of conditions and dermatological problems. In combination with ceramides 1 and 3, phytosphingosine maintains the proper level of synthesis of lipids of the stratum corneum; affects the positive dynamics of the skin in atopic dermatitis (reduction of skin dryness, itching); in irritated and damaged skin, phytosphingosine has inhibitory activity against many pro-inflammatory cytokines - in particular TNF-α, Interleukin 1, protein kinase C.
Cosmetic applications:
- - Care products for dry, damaged, flaky, dull skin;
- - creams for skin with signs of xerosis;
- - anti-aging, anti-aging products;
- - rejuvenating cosmetics for mature skin care;
- - nourishing creams and face masks;
- - cosmetics for skin with atopic dermatitis.
Storage: in a dark place at a temperature of 10 - 15 °C. Do not store at temperatures below 10°C. Shelf life is 6 months at room temperature. The BeURRe store provides appropriate storage conditions for SK-INFLUX® V. Temporary transportation at temperatures below 10 °C is allowed.
