What is plant activated carbon?
100% natural activated carbon with high absorbency, extracted from European peat bogs. The manufacturer guarantees the environmental friendliness of the raw materials from which the cosmetic charcoal is produced, and as a result the component has Cosmos certification. High quality control ensures the effectiveness of the charcoal in cosmetics.
Cosmetic properties
- High oil capacity, provides a significant cleaning effect
- Very fine particle size for better dispersibility (average 4 μm)
- Bright black color, giving a spectacular black color to cosmetic products
- Microbiological characteristics guaranteed by the manufacturer: less than 100 CFU/g and no pathogens or gram-negative microorganisms.
- Control of heavy metal content
Why use activated charcoal in cosmetic formulations?
Cosmetic activated carbon has high adsorption (absorption) properties.
Charcoal is a 100% natural solution for your formulations that meets the standards of eco-cosmetics and the "back to basics" trend, where cosmetic manufacturers are looking back in time and returning to proven natural botanical ingredients.
Beneficial uses of charcoal
1. Cleansing: Vegetable charcoal can adsorb toxins, impurities and other harmful substances from the skin, leaving it cleaner and healthier. It is suitable for oily and acne-prone skin as it helps to absorb oxidized sebum.
2. Detoxification: Vegetable charcoal helps remove chemicals from the skin's pores as it exfoliates dead skin cells and eliminates bad odors. It can stimulate cell growth, leaving your skin supple, soft and smooth.
Products in which the inclusion of activated charcoal is recommended
- Cleansing and detoxifying masks for face and body 0.1 - 3%.
- Cleansing products for problematic, oily skin with acne 0.1 - 1%.
- Liquid and solid soaps 0.1 - 2% (for a more even distribution of the charcoal in the soap, it can be pre-dispersed in glycerin)
- Solid hair shampoos 0.1 - 1%.
- Mineral cosmetics (as pigment)
- Deodorants and toothpastes 0.1 - 3
- Bath bombs 0.1 - 1%.
Attention: activated charcoal has strong coloring properties, so it is recommended not to start the first use with the maximum dosage, but lower and gradually increase if desired.
