Benefits of CO2 extract in cosmetology
Green coffee extract contains phytosterols, mainly β-sitosterol, stigmasterol and campesterol. Phytosterols are referred to as “the most physiologic skin rejuvenation factor”. They are thought to have a balancing effect by weakly activating estrogen receptors. Phytosterols are also believed to inhibit melanogenesis, prevent the appearance of senile pigmentation and help even out the complexion.
Due to the presence of phytosterols - green coffee extract has its own sun protection factor. Adding 5% of green coffee oil to the emulsion increases its sun protection factor by 4 points. When converting to coffee extract, you can add it following the input recommendations.
Skin care products with green coffee extract are characterized by good penetration into the stratum corneum of the epidermis, providing a pronounced moisturizing effect.
Coffee extract, due to the presence of phytosterols, in vitro stimulates the synthetic activity of fibroblasts and increases their number. Increases the synthesis of all components of the intercellular matrix - collagen by 75%, elastin by 52% and hyaluronic acid by more than 100%. This is due to the stimulation of growth factor synthesis. Production of transforming growth factor beta increases by 204% and granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor by 834%.
In addition, coffee extract has unique moisturizing properties. In addition to regulating transepidermal moisture loss, it stimulates the expression of Aquaporin-3 on the membrane of keratinocytes. This helps to maintain the skin's moisture regulation mechanisms at a high level. In addition to water, it also increases the absorption of glycerol molecules by the skin, as this Aquaporin is the main channel of glycerol transport.
Due to the presence of caffeine in it, CO2 coffee extract has a slight lipolytic effect.
