Amisol soft is a soft phospholipid lamellar emulsifier based on lecithin

Amisol soft is a natural biomimetic emulsifier of plant origin with high biodegradability. Amisol soft allows to make cosmetic lotions, creams and batters with ultra soft sensoriality, while the preparation process itself is quite simple. High tolerance to all skin types, including sensitive skin, maximum protection of the skin barrier and prevention of transepidermal skin moisture loss makes Amisol Soft a favourite among lecithin emulsifiers.

The benefits of using phospholipids are described in Beurre's blog "Phospholipids in cosmetics: benefits and applications"

Characteristics of the component and peculiarities of use

INCI: Behenyl alcohol, Glyceryl stearate, Lecithin, Glycine soja (soybean) sterols.

Dosage (percentage of input into cosmetics): 1 - 6%

  • 5-6% as a basic emulsifier to obtain a rich, thick cream texture
  • 3-4% for lotions
  • 1-2% for sprays (with co-emulsifier added)
  • 1-2% as co-emulsifier and texture enhancer in combination with other emulsifiers.

Solubility: soluble in water or in oil at 75-80 °C.

Usage details: it is recommended to hydrate in water or oil at a temperature of at least 75-80 °C for 20 minutes. That is, heat the fat or water phase to the required temperature, add the emulsifier, cover and allow the emulsifier to melt for 20 minutes. The optimum pH level of ready-to-use Amisol soft emulsifier products is between 4.0 and 7.0.

Storage: it is recommended to store in a dark, dry and cool place, protect from direct sunlight and overheating.

Technical characteristics of the emulsifier

Amisol Soft allows the production of many different textures, from pourable milks to rich, dense creams. The emulsifier has excellent emulsifying properties:

  • creates a lamellar structure
  • allows the introduction of up to 25% of the oil phase with only 4% emulsifier
  • works with all types of oil phases
  • highly compatible with pigments and pearlescents as well as chemical and physical UV filters
  • as a stand-alone emulsifier it allows the introduction of electrolytes < 0.5% and alcohols < 5%
  • among preservatives it does not combine with caprylhydroxamic acid, as a result the colour and odour of the finished product may change
  • ethoxylated ingredients can disrupt lamellar systems and reduce viscosity.

Technology for making lamellar emulsion on Amisol soft emulsifier

Amisol soft is very easy to use, requiring attention to only a few details:

  • work only hot at a temperature of 75 - 80°C
  • the emulsifier can be added to both water and fat phases, but the manufacturer prefers to add it to the fat phase.
  • mandatory hydration. In the presentation below it is written about hydration for 5 minutes, but in other manuals on the introduction of emulsifier it is recommended to hydrate it in hot aqueous or fatty phase and in a closed glass for 20 minutes.

Cosmetic uses and benefits of Amisol soft

Phospholipids are molecules identical to skin, as they are important constituents of cell membranes. It is the phospholipids that show a special affinity for the skin and biocompatibility for optimal tolerance. Therefore, Amisol Soft has a special skin tolerance and is recommended for use in all products, including sensitive skin.

Amisol Soft reduces TEWL (transepidermal moisture loss) by strengthening the skin's protective barrier. As molecules identical to skin, phospholipids have a strong affinity for the stratum corneum and can strengthen its barrier function to reduce TEWL and keep skin moisturised.

Sensory profile of the emulsifier

Application of Amisol Soft provides a soft and silky feel after emulsion application, has high spreadability and excellent glide. The low stickiness of the emulsion and the pleasant freshness after application leaves a maximum feeling of comfort and silkiness.

The emulsifier's ability to create dense, thick textures with a silky aftertaste after emulsion application is one of the main, but quite significant, advantages. Only the first time you try a phospholipid emulsifier you will be able to feel the so-called "phospholipid touch" on your own skin. The positive impression after application is prolonged by the emulsifier's ability to act as a delivery system and improve the bioavailability of active ingredients for greater efficacy.

Origin and safety: eco-friendly product

  • Natural origin: phospholipids from soya are a by-product of the food industry; fatty amphiphiles are of vegetable origin.
  • Biodegradability: easily biodegradable: >60%. After 28 days in aerobic aqueous medium OCDE 301 method
  • Aquatic toxicity: harmless to aquatic ecosystem: EC50 > 100 mg/L.
