Eyeseryl peptide against puffiness and bags under the eyes
Eyeseryl from the Spanish company Lipotec is a tetrapeptide with proven effectiveness for the skin around the eyes, stimulating microcirculation and lymphatic drainage, reducing “bags” and dark circles under the eyes. Eyeseryl has anti-edematous properties with proven effectiveness in reducing under eye bags.
Characteristics of the component and features of use
INCI: Water (Aqua), Butylene glycol, Acetyl Tetrapeptide-5
Appearance: transparent solution containing 0.1% Acetyl Tetrapeptide-5
Dosage: 1 - 10 %
Application: dissolve in water, active phase or add directly to a warm emulsion. It is recommended to administer the peptide at temperatures up to 40°C, but it remains stable at 70°C for 2 hours. pH of the finished product should be in the range of 3.0 - 7.5.
Storage: store in a cool, dark place. Long-term storage is recommended at a temperature of +2 to 8 C. Temporary transportation at a different temperature is allowed and does not affect the quality of the product. Do not freeze.
Eyeseryl application in cosmetics
Eyeseryl is a tetrapeptide that helps to improve the appearance of the eye contour, mainly by reducing puffiness and dark circles under the eyes. The peptide minimizes tissue breakdown, fluid accumulation and excess fat under the eyes, which are the main triggers of bags under the eyes
A few scientific facts
Certain anatomical features of the facial structure can contribute to bags under the eyes and a less than aesthetic appearance, with excess orbital fat being a major factor, especially in men. The lower eyelid consists of three fat deposits that protrude forward with age, causing visible bulges. The skin supporting these sections also weakens due to reactions such as glycation. In addition, increased fluid accumulation caused by high capillary permeability can also contribute to increased puffiness under the eyes.
Darkening under the eyes is mainly caused by the presence of colored compounds produced by blood penetration, such as bilirubin, which become more noticeable with high skin transparency caused by tissue breakdown.
Eyeseryl peptide helps to inhibit glycation, vascular permeability and lipid accumulation, which shows improvement in the under-eye area. That is, the peptide is active against bags and dark circles around the eyes, has a draining effect and relieves swelling in the area around the eyes.
In-vivo and in-vitro trials: proven efficacy
In vitro efficacy
- Inhibition of vascular permeability. A monolayer of human endothelial cells was treated with scalar concentrations of the peptide. The level of permeability was assessed after treatment by measuring the penetration of fluorescein isothiocyanate-dextran isothiocyanate through the monolayer. The result: a decrease in vascular permeability, which helps prevent fluid accumulation.
- Degradation of bilirudin. A solution of 0.01% conjugated bilirubin was mixed with Eyeseryl peptide at a concentration of 10 mg/mL in a light-protected tube for 24 hours. The concentration of bilirubin was determined by HPLC. Result: reduction of bilirubin levels by 18.5%, which minimized the appearance of dark circles under the eyes.
- Reduced lipid accumulation. Primary human preadipocytes were incubated with adipocyte differentiation medium and treated with various concentrations of Eyeseryl peptide. Lipid accumulation in cells was assessed by fluorescence using a reagent that stains intracellular lipid droplets. Result: a decrease in lipid accumulation, indicating a reduction in lipid-related bags under the eyes.

In vivo efficacy
- Improvement of eye contour. 20 women (18-65 years old) applied a cream containing 10% Eyeseryl peptide around the eyes twice daily for 60 days. Skin elasticity was measured after 30 and 60 days of treatment using a cutometer. Result: 29.4% improvement in skin elasticity in just one month.
- Effect against dark circles. 17 women (34-54 years old) with dark circles under the eyes applied a cream containing 1% Eyeseryl peptide twice a day. Dark pigmentation under the eyes was evaluated after 14 and 28 days by chromometric studies. The parameters evaluated were L* (brightness) and ITAº (individual typological angle). Result: improvement of skin brightness and reduction of darkness under the eyes after 14 days.

3. Reduction of eye puffiness in men. 20 men (30-65 years old) with bags under the eyes applied a cream containing 1% Eyeseryl peptide to one eye contour and a placebo cream to the other, twice daily for 28 days. The volume of bags under the eyes was assessed using a microtopography imaging system and lateral images of the volunteers. The test was completed by self-assessment of the subjects. Result: reduction in the volume of bags under the eyes up to 29.7% and 90% of the subjects would recommend this product as an effective remedy for bags under the eyes.

General action of Eyeseryl against bags and dark circles
- Inhibition of the glycation process (cross-linking of collagen fibers).
- Increase in skin elasticity
- Drainage and anti-edema effect
- Gradual lightening effect of dark circles.
Main benefits of using Eyeseryl in prescriptions
- Double action: reduction of bags and dark circles
- Reduces the volume of bags under the eyes in just 14 days (at a dosage of 10%)
- Improves skin appearance (inhibits the glycation process, prevents the binding of collagen fibers and loss of elasticity).
