Crytmum extract - a sea cocktail of useful substances in cosmetics

Marine kritmum extract is actively used in cosmetology to brighten and moisturize the skin, as well as in anti-cellulite products. The extract is rich in minerals, iodine and other biologically active substances and is perfectly combined with other marine actives.

Cosmetic properties of kritmum extract

Crithmum extract is obtained from the marine plant crithmum maritimum, also called sea fennel or sea fennel. The plant is able to obtain nutrients from sea water, so it is rich in iodine, potassium and other mineral compounds characteristic of sea creatures. 

This extract has a retinoid-like action: it stimulates the production of special lipids that thicken the skin, and the stem cells of crithmum have a powerful rejuvenating effect. As a result of applying the extract, we get the result of stimulating collagen and elastin synthesis, as well as intensive cell rejuvenation. 

Crytmum is well suited for oily skin, because the components of the extract liquefy sebum, matting the skin and narrowing pores. 

Chlorogenic acid, which is contained in this extract, acts as an antioxidant and UV filter, and against type B rays, which cause redness of the skin after spending time in the active sun. Therefore, it's wise to include kritmum extract in a sunscreen cosmetics formulation as an additional active that enhances overall UV protection.

Like any “marine” actives, kritmum extract moisturizes the skin and stimulates the synthesis of beta-glucocerebrosidase, which is responsible for the formation of lipids in the stratum corneum of the skin, thus reducing transdermal moisture loss.
