Skin microflora and cosmetics

The inhabitants of our skin are bacteria that live in an acidic environment, because the normal PH of our skin is 5.5. Staphylococcus epidermidis makes up the majority of the bacterial population on the skin. In addition to them there are Propionibacteria, Staphylococci, Corynebacterium, Staphylococcus aureus, Proteobacteria and Flavobacteria. The ratio of these microorganisms on our skin depends largely on the area of the skin, because they differ in terms of moisture, sebum production, oxygen supply and even temperature.

A healthy microflora has a very strong influence on local immunity. For example, the skin microbiome is able to secrete the same antibacterial peptides as skin cells and these substances act against pathogens. That is, in fact, the resistant skin microflora itself has a bactericidal effect.

If the balance of the skin microbiome is disturbed

When an imbalance occurs and the optimal amount of certain bacteria changes, various skin diseases may occur: the skin may become more sensitive, dull, red and inflamed, pathogenic microflora may develop on the surface of the skin, which becomes the cause of such unpleasant phenomena as blackheads, pimples, acne.

The causes of skin microbiome disturbance can be various factors: changes in diet, diseases, climate change, as well as the use of aggressive cosmetics: peels, cleansers, cosmetics that violate the normal pH of the skin.

For example, the bacteria P.acnes, present in the skin, with excessive multiplication provoke acne, and in patients with rosacea there is an increase in the number of bacteria Staphylococcus epidermidis and Corynebacterium, and with psoriasis the content of Propionibacterium decreases and Firmicutes - increases. Serious changes in the skin microbiome are also observed in atopic dermatitis. Skin damage in this disease is associated with an increase in colonies of S.aureus bacteria.

How to restore the microflora of the skin: special ingredients

First of all, modern cosmetics should not have a destructive effect on the skin. Cosmetic brands focus more on pre- and post-biotic care. It is these two areas that result in fresh, healthy and glowing skin. Cosmetic prebiotics include Biolin P.

The active ingredient Oxy skin (229 pf) is categorised as a postbiotic ingredient that helps repair the skin. Unique research proves its effectiveness in positions such as:

  • Stimulates oxygen uptake, up to 750%
  • Increases cell viability, up to 10%
  • Increases cell activity, up to 25%

Oxy skin is an ingredient that primarily affects the number of bacteria Corynebacterium Kroppenstedtii, a lipophilic bacterium that is part of the normal microbiota of the skin. It is these bacteria that can control skin redness associated with age-related changes and rosacea, as well as reduce sebum production.

Rebalancing Corynebacterium Kroppenstedtii is a new option for controlling skin redness. Efficacy has been proven by independent research.
