Petitgrain oil in cosmetics
Petitgrain is an essential oil that is extracted from the leaves and shoots of bitter orange and is a citrus fruit, but it has more therapeutic properties than the essential "optimist oils" of citrus fruits. Petitgrain essential oil has been called the "elixir of youth" since ancient times and is used in cosmetology and aromatherapy as a tonic, refreshing and strengthening agent.
Characteristics of natural petitgrain oil
Botanical name: Citrus aurantium
Synonyms: bitter orange, petitgrain (from the French petit grain - small grain), bitter orange oil, bigarade, petitgrain bigarade
Family: rutaceae
Aroma: subtle, herbaceous, fresh, with light floral notes. Weightless candy overtone with a barely perceptible bitterness.
Country of origin of raw materials: India
Part of the plant: leaves, shoots
Method of production: steam distillation
Essential oils are natural concentrated products that are not recommended for use in pure form on the skin or hair. The optimal dosage for essential oils is considered to be no more than 2% or, in simple terms, up to 2 ml per 100 ml of the finished product. Other dosages can be used for medicinal purposes after consultation with a specialist. Essential oils dissolve well in any oil, emollients, alcohols, solubilizers and are not soluble in water. It is recommended to conduct a sensitivity test before the first use.

Cosmetic use: properties
It is perfect for daily care, has a good restorative and rejuvenating effect. Petitgrain oil is often used in cosmetics for problem skin due to its antiseptic properties.
Orange leaf essential oil is also included in body formulas as an anti-cellulite additive, as well as in stretch mark creams for the chest and abdomen.
It is often used in leg cosmetics, as it helps relieve swelling and fatigue.
Healing properties
It is used in aromatherapy as a tonic, invigorating and mood-boosting agent. Helps with all types of headaches and muscle pain, normalizes blood circulation. Promotes effective cleansing of the body from waste and toxins, has a normalizing effect on the composition of the blood and lymph.
Synergy
Petitgrain oil does not go well with citrus, as they muffle its subtle shades. It is better to choose those esters in synergy that will enhance its herbal and candy notes. It goes well with essential oils of jasmine, rosemary, ginger, sage, sandalwood, cloves, spruce, lavender, neroli, ginger and eucalyptus.
Contraindications
Like other citrus essential oils, petitgrain is contraindicated during pregnancy. It is also phototoxic and is not recommended for application before sun exposure.
