Geogard Ultra preservative - a powerful synergistic preservative mixture with Ecocert certification

Geogard Ultra is a completely natural preservative that combines plant gluconolactones obtained from corn and the food preservative sodium benzoate. This exceptional combination provides a wide range of protection against bacteria and mold even in the most complex cosmetic formulations. Component characteristics and features of use

INCI: Gluconolactone, Sodium Benzoate, Calcium Gluconate

Synonyms, other trade names: Ultra Guard, MicroGuard, NeoDefend, Есоgard.

Dosage: standard dosage is 0.8 - 1.5%, however, according to the European Cosmetic Regulation, the maximum dosage of the preservative is 2.30%.

Solubility: soluble in water, glycerin, propylene glycol and mineral oils. To add to the recipe, dissolve in the recommended base and stir thoroughly until the powder is completely dissolved. Solubility is much higher in a warm or hot base.

Short-term heating up to 80 C is allowed. The recommended pH of the finished product is from 3.0 to 6.0, but keep in mind that the preservative itself can lower the overall pH of the formula.

Storage: in a dark, dry place at a temperature of up to 25 C.

Use of the Geogard ultra preservative in cosmetics

Geogard Ultra is as effective as the most powerful preservatives - parabens, but at the same time it is completely natural and exceptionally mild. This is an excellent choice for those who prefer mild preservatives, but at the same time want to be sure of reliable long-term preservation. Both components of Geogard Ultra, gluconolactone and sodium benzoate, are effective preservatives individually, but in combination with each other, higher efficiency is observed due to the interaction between gluconolactone and sodium benzoate.

This preservative can cause individual intolerance, which manifests itself in the form of reddened irritated skin. Therefore, before preparing cosmetics with it for the first time, conduct a sensitivity test. Make a 2% solution of the preservative in water and apply it to small areas of different parts of the body. Such individual intolerance can be caused by any preservative. Remember that gluconolactone itself is a PHA acid, which is recommended for use even on sensitive skin. But an individual reaction is always possible.

Another exceptional feature of this preservative is that it helps moisturize the skin due to the presence of gluconolactone in the composition. Based on the studies provided by the manufacturer, 1% Geogard ultra is able to have a stronger moisturizing effect in cream than 2% glycerin.
