Prolipid 141 is a lamellar emulsifier for the preparation of natural cosmetics

Prolipid 141 is an innovative stand-alone emulsifier, the components of which are well studied and authorized for use worldwide. Emulsions prepared with it deeply moisturize and revitalize the skin, strengthen the skin barrier and make it silky.

This emulsifier has been withdrawn from the BEURRE store range. As an alternative replacement you may consider Emulsiphoslamellar emulsifier , Montanov 202 emulsifier , Planta M emulsifier .

Component characterization and specifics of use

INCI: Glyceryl Stearate, Behenyl Alcohol, Palmitic Acid, Stearic Acid, Lecithin, Lauryl Alcohol, Myristyl Alcohol, Cetyl Alcohol.

Appearance: flakes of cream color. It is allowed “sticking” flakes.

Input dosage: 3-5%

Specifics of use: melt in the previously prepared oil phase and stir until a homogeneous mass is formed. To create thicker and richer textured emulsions, it is recommended to add gelling agents to formulas.

Storage: in a dark place at a temperature not exceeding 30 °C. Protect from direct sunlight.

How to prepare lamellar emulsion with Prolipid 141

We recommend using special mixers or homogenizers to create stable emulsions with Prolipid 141, and we also want to clarify the need to use additional gelling agents (polymers), which will help to thicken and stabilize the emulsion. Emulsifier can be incompatible with silicones, so it is recommended to use no more than 0.5% of silicone and to test emulsion stability on small portions of cream.

Technology of use in formulations

1. melt Prolipid 141 in the previously prepared fatty oil component with continuous stirring (this is in contrast to the traditional emulsification process, when dispersing Prolipid 141 and oil, oil vesicles are formed);
2. add the aqueous phase to the fatty phase (both phases must be at the same temperature);
3. emulsify;
4. cool down naturally with slow, continuous stirring (this forms and stabilizes the lamellar (layered) structure of the emulsion in which the “oil vesicles” are enclosed. When stirred and cooled, the cream thickens considerably.

Prolipid 141 is recommended to be used as a mono (single) emulsifier without adding other surfactants.
