Cosmetic properties and application of rosemary powder
Rosemary powder (Rosmarinus officinalis leaf powder) is crushed dried leaves of the plant used in cosmetics as a natural active ingredient with antiseptic, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. The main active ingredients are carnosic acid, rosmarinic acid, ursolic acid, flavonoids and terpenoids.
Antioxidant activity has been confirmed in vitro: carnosic and rosmarinic acids neutralize free radicals, protect cells from oxidative damage, and slow down skin aging. This makes rosemary powder useful in anti-aging products and formulas aimed at restoring dull, tired skin.
The antiseptic effect is due to the high content of essential compounds (including cineole and α-pinene). The powder can inhibit the growth of pathogenic microorganisms, including Staphylococcus aureus, Cutibacterium acnes, Candida albicans. It is used in masks and cleansers for problem skin.
The anti-inflammatory effect is associated with the inhibition of pro-inflammatory mediators (in particular, interleukin-6, COX-2), which allows the powder to be used for acne, irritation, redness, atopic dermatitis. The restorative properties are enhanced by the presence of ursolic acid, which stimulates collagen synthesis and accelerates tissue regeneration.
In trichological formulas, rosemary improves microcirculation of the scalp, promotes hair growth and strengthens hair follicles. A decrease in the severity of dandruff has been noted with regular use. In shampoos and masks, rosemary powder acts as an active agent against hair loss and oily scalp.
Combines with components: green tea, calendula, lavender, sage, zinc, niacinamide. Enhances the effect of antioxidants (vitamin C, tocopherol), sebum regulators and anti-aging extracts.
Contraindications: individual intolerance, use on severely damaged skin without a preliminary test. For sensitive skin, it is recommended to reduce the dosage or add soothing components.
