An essential ingredient in cosmetology

Silk Amino Acids is a water-soluble product used in the preparation of cosmetic products for skin and hair. It has a lower molecular weight (5000 daltons) than silk hydrolysate and penetrates deeper into the skin and hair. Silk amino acids are of animal origin and are produced by enzymatic hydrolysis of sericin, a viscous, sticky protein found in silk. The main active ingredients are serine, alanine, glycine, asparagine and glutamic acid.

Ingredient characteristics and specific uses

INCI: water, silk amino acids, sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate.

Main substance content: 10-13%

Dosage: 0.5 - 3%

Solubility and use: Silk amino acids should be dissolved in the aqueous phase, active phase of the cosmetic product or added directly to the warm emulsion and mixed thoroughly. Do not heat above 40°C.

Storage: at a temperature of 4 - 25 C. At temperatures below 4 C, precipitation may occur, which disappears by itself when the product is heated. The precipitate does not affect the quality of the product. It is therefore advisable to remove the bottle from the refrigerator before preparing cosmetics.

Properties of silk in skincare

Due to their low molecular weight, silk amino acids easily penetrate and are quickly absorbed by the skin, nourishing it and instantly filling in any damage to the skin, restoring its softness and suppleness. They also have the property of acting as a moisture reservoir and a reserve for the skin's protein synthesis. Amino acids easily penetrate the skin barrier and trigger a cascade of biochemical reactions aimed at repairing skin cells. As a result, metabolic processes in the cells themselves, microcirculation and lymphatic flow are improved. A unique smoothing effect is created, wrinkles disappear thanks to the use of silk peptides, which also moisturise the skin.

Hair applications

When you decide to prepare shampoos, conditioners or other hair care products, you can be sure to add Silk Amino Acids to your basket. This cosmetic ingredient is able to penetrate damaged hair, repair it and protect it from external aggression. Silk Amino Acids have an incredible structural similarity to the keratin of skin and hair, on which it leaves a protective and moisturising layer.

If we briefly list all the benefits of this cosmetic asset, we get this list:
