Plant analog of polyquaternium-10 for skin and hair conditioning

Softisan is a multifunctional conditioning ingredient for skin and hair, produced from vegetable raw materials in combination with PCA. This combination provides high levels of conditioning, moisturization and reduces transepidermal water loss (TEWL). The efficacy of the ingredient is comparable to that of the well-known Polyquaternium-10, but its vegetable origin allows Softisan to be used in natural and vegan cosmetic formulations.

Appearance: yellow viscous liquid

Dosage: 0.5 - 2%. We indicate the recommended dosage, but the optimal dosage for your formulation should be chosen independently, depending on the full composition of the cosmetic product, as well as on the presence of other conditioning additives in the recipes.

Solubility: in oil

Characteristics of use: Softisan can be used both hot and cold. It is recommended to be added to the oily phase or mixed with surfactants in shampoo formulations. A pH < 5.5 is recommended for maximum efficacy in non-washable products. Provides good adhesion to hair and skin through hydrophobic interaction at pH 4.0 - 7.0.

Storage: Store at room temperature away from direct sunlight, high temperatures and humidity.

Cosmetic properties of Softisan

Softisan, or glyceryl oleate of pyrrolidone carboxylic acid, is a universal conditioning and softening additive in various cosmetic products for both hair and skin. At physiological pH (5.5), the amino acid-derived molecule of the component provides a positive charge, which makes it highly substantive for skin and hair. Thanks to the presence of Pyrrolidone Carboxylic Acid (PCA), which is also part of the Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF), Softisan has a positive effect on skin hydration levels and protects the skin barrier by reducing transepidermal moisture loss (TEWL). Softisan is suitable for vegan cosmetics, is a 100% natural product, free of palm and palm kernel oil and is manufactured in Germany to high quality standards.

Softisan consists of natural glyceryl monooleate combined with PCA derived from natural glutamic acid and is a yellow viscous liquid with a neutral odor.
