Natural polymer of plant origin for cosmetics with ECO and Vegan status

Xanthan gum (trade name was changed from Rheocare XGN to Verdessence Xanthan ) is a natural polysaccharide biopolymer that is produced by Campestris Xanthomonas bacteria from cabbage plants. This type of xanthan gum is produced by the German company BASF, who responded very quickly to the market's need for vegan cosmetic ingredients and produced pure vegan xanthan gum. It consists of 100 per cent renewable starting material and is not made from GMO products. All polymers in BASF's Verdessence brand are biodegradable, bio-based polymers for personal care products, formulated for high performance and produced using environmentally friendly processes.

INCI: Xanthan Gum

Dosage: 0.1 - 1%

Usage: xanthan should be added to the aqueous phase of the recipe, then stirred until dissolved. You can pre-soak the xanthan gum for 15-30 minutes, then stir and it will take minutes to dissolve. This type of xanthan gum is very economical. 30 g of powder will be enough to make 3 kg of thick gel, or 6 kg of medium viscosity gel, or to use it as a water phase co-thickener for about 12 kg of cream.

Storage: in a cool place, protected from light and moisture.

Use in cosmetics

Xanthan gum is a powerful thickener and stabiliser for gels, emulsions and surfactant-based systems. It creates crystal-clear formulations, is resistant to electrolytes and ethanol, can be incorporated into "cold" formulations and does not require neutralisation (like the same carbomer). This very flexible polysaccharide can be used for a variety of cosmetic products, including oral care. COSMOS approved.

In which formulas xanthan gum is best used

It can be used in facial gels, lotions, tonics, milks and creams, shower gels, shampoos, hair conditioners. Xanthan gum is useful to add to day and protective facial products, as it creates a thin film on the skin and does not allow moisture to evaporate. Some anti-inflammatory action is also noted.
