Chto takoye mist i zachem on nuzhen v letney kosmetichke 51 / 5 000 What is a mist and why is it needed in a summer cosmetic bag
Agree, it is so nice to walk past a fountain in the summer, especially when a light breeze blows. These millions of tiny droplets that fall on the skin are so refreshing. Perhaps cosmetologists were inspired by such walks when they came up with a new cosmetic product - mist.
Mist should not be confused with thermal water or hydrolate, they are also sprayed on the skin. The latter two do not contain moisturizing components and the effect from them does not last long. It is rather just cooling, and a side effect can be a further feeling of dryness. When thermal water evaporates, transepidermal moisture loss also occurs, since thermal water does not contain components that retain water inside or on the surface of the skin. But they are in the mist, the main thing is to correctly compose the recipe.
Mist - instant skin hydration
The main task of the mist is to moisturize, refresh, cool. It can be used between other procedures in your beauty routine, or sprayed on the skin during the day to refresh it. The mist can serve as a base for makeup, or applied under serum and cream for additional hydration.
Active components in the mist
The basis of any mist will be distilled water. We do not recommend using hydrolates for the mist, as they are quite “acidic” (that is, have a low pH), and also contain many active substances.
The mist is used more than once during the day, so it is worth making it more or less neutral, without powerful, irritating, phototoxic or allergenic actives.
The mist should always contain moisturizing components, preferably with different mechanisms of action. Most often, this is hyaluronic acid, which is able to bind and retain water on the surface of the skin (high molecular weight) or inside it (low molecular weight).
Remember that hyaluronic acid increases the viscosity of the product. To keep your mist liquid, do not exceed the dosage of 0.1% or use liquid hyaluronic acid 4D Hymagic 1-3%.
It is appropriate to add to your mist:
- niacinamide
- trehalose
- NUF or Japanese NUF for skin Prodew 600
- Aquaxyl
- Aqua shuttle
- Betaine
- and other water-soluble components with a moisturizing effect, but of course not all at once. Choose an effective combination for yourself.
Supplement the mist recipe with one or two extracts suitable for your skin, with a moisturizing, soothing or antioxidant effect. To obtain a transparent mist, it is good to choose glycerin extracts, for example, from the Cosme phytamis series.
Hydrolysates will work well in the mist, they will serve as a kind of moisturizing compress: the molecules of hydrolysates are quite large, they do not penetrate the skin, but remain on its surface, retaining moisture. You can use collagen hydrolysate or silk hydrolysate.
Do not weigh down the mist with components that create stickiness (D-panthenol, Biolin P, lots of glycerin). Of course, you can add them, but focus on low dosages. Still, the main advantage of this cosmetic product is lightness and airiness. Mist is translated from English as fog, so make a moisturizing mist.
Mist from the mass market, what components should be avoided
If you are not going to make a mist with your own hands, but really want to get such a cosmetic product in your cosmetic bag, then you can buy it in the store.
Do not be fooled by stylish packaging and product description. Read the label carefully. You already know that without moisturizing components, a mist is not a mist. A quality product should not contain propylene glycol, ethyl alcohol, oil, especially mineral oil. Your mist should be easy to spray and either odorless or have a very subtle smell.
