Natural aromatic spray for fabrics or room spray: how to make it at home and create an atmosphere of comfort
Have you ever wondered why some homes immediately create a feeling of warmth and comfort, just by walking inside? Often it is not only the decor or cleanliness, but also the aroma. The perfectly chosen scent can calm, inspire, fill with energy or evoke pleasant memories. That is why natural fabric sprays with essential oils are becoming a real trend for a comfortable home.
In this article, we will tell you how to create your own spray (linen spray, fabric spray, pillow spray) - safe, effective and absolutely unique. And also - we will share tips on its use, storage and combinations of aromas for every taste and season.
Why should you choose essential oils?
We will tell you how to make a homemade spray for textiles a little below, and now I would like to add that for this version of the spray we always choose essential oils.
Essential oils are concentrated substances obtained from plants that have not only aromatic, but also therapeutic properties. They are used in cosmetology, medicine, everyday life, and, of course, in aromatherapy. The advantages of using them in a home spray are very obvious:
Naturalness - without chemicals, safe for children and animals (provided that the dosage is observed).
Antibacterial properties - many oils (tea tree, eucalyptus, lemongrass) have an antiseptic effect.
Positive effect on the emotional state - lavender soothes, citrus invigorates, mint refreshes. Therefore, we make combinations to our taste.
Environmental friendliness - rejection of synthetic aerosols and harmful impurities. You can buy natural essential oils in the BEURRE.UA store.
Basic recipe for homemade room spray with your own hands
We want to say right away that preparing such a spray will be very simple, and you will not need many ingredients to prepare it. The basis of the spray is always water, it is better to use distilled water. Alcohol is also an important component, it is better to use 70% or 90% alcohol, which you can find. Or as an option to replace alcohol, you can use the MMB base, or combine alcohol and MMB base in one recipe. Next, you need to decide what aroma you want to get and what task your room spray should perform: do you want to apply it to a pillow for better sleep, or to linen to preserve its fresh aroma, or maybe spray it on shoes for freshness? When you have answered these questions for yourself - you can choose several essential oils, the combination of which will satisfy your wishes. And the last thing to consider is a solubilizer that will help the essential oils dissolve completely in water, we recommend using Tegosoft PC 41 MB or Resassol VPF, both of which are natural substances.
Room spray or fabric spray formula per 100 g
- 71 g distilled water - the basis of the recipe
- 25 g alcohol 90% - an additional solvent and carrier for essential oils, which evaporates quickly and transfers the aroma to the fabric
- 3 g Tegosoft PC 41 MB - a solvent for essential oils so that they do not float in oily drops on the surface of the water
- 1 g (approximately 35-50 drops) of your chosen essential oils, adjust the concentration to your liking
- a spray bottle, preferably made of dark glass or plastic.
To add even more benefits to your spray, you can pay attention to these three components:
- Adding baking soda helps neutralize odors
- Epsom salt in the spray helps the essential oils dissolve even better and also removes odor from fabric
- Glycerin helps the scent last longer.
Instructions for making
- Measure the required amount of essential oils
- Add Tegosoft 41MB solvent to them and mix well with a spoon
- Add alcohol and mix well again
- Lastly, add water, stir, pour into a brown bottle and let it stand for several days, because at first the mixture will be opaque.
- We recommend shaking the bottle before each use.
- It is better to test on a small area of fabric before using
- You can store such a spray for up to 6 months in a dark, cool place. However, the presence of citrus oils in the composition may reduce the shelf life.

Frequently asked questions when making such sprays
- What to do if the smell is weak? Increase the number of drops of essential oil by 5-10 or add a few drops of glycerin to fix the aroma.
- What can I replace ethyl alcohol with? You can use MMB base, which is alcohol by nature.
- Why is my spray peeling? You either did not add a solvent (Tegosoft PC 41 MB or Resassol VPF), or you did not add enough of it for your amount of essential oils. This happens, you just need to change the formula a little.
- Can I make such a spray with fragrances? Yes, of course, fragrances are also used in textile sprays, but you need to understand that the aroma will no longer be natural. Fragrances should be dissolved according to the same principle as essential oils.
