Choosing an abrasive for making a facial scrub
A well-groomed appearance makes a woman of any age look spectacular. Cleansing and exfoliating the skin is a procedure that simply must be done regularly in order to look good. Many beauty salons offer this service for the face or the whole body. However, it is not at all difficult to make a scrub at home, on your own. Any scrub consists of a base and exfoliating particles. The base for a scrub is often base (vegetable oils) or emulsions. You can buy vegetable oils for making cosmetics at home in the Cosmetic Oil section of the BEURRE store. Often, the emulsifier Polysorbate-80 (no more than 10%) is added to the recipe for oil-based scrubs. Its main function in a scrub is to make it non-greasy and easily washed off the skin. The abrasive in the scrub can be coffee grounds, bran, oatmeal, coarse flour, salt crystals, sugar, berry seeds. But all these particles are good only for the body. And they can injure the delicate skin of the face, since they have sharp uneven edges.
Scrubbing components (abrasives) for the face
Walnut shell, granules
Walnut shell is rich in tannins, it contains steroids and alkaloids, coumarins and glucosides, vitamins and phenolic acids. It is used to prepare medicinal tinctures and decoctions, as well as to create excellent peels and scrubs. In modern cosmetology, walnut shells are usually used as a base for natural peels and scrubs, as well as in the composition of medical cosmetics.
Rice crumbs
Rice crumbs - a plant exfoliant obtained from crushed and polished rice grain, which gently and tenderly exfoliates keratinized skin particles, leaving a feeling of comfort after use. Scrubbing particles are suitable for scrubs for both the face and body. Rice crumbs do not violate the viscosity of the finished product and do not affect its color, are a biodegradable component and a natural alternative to PE particles. Caring for nature begins with you and your cosmetics. Average particle size: 150-500 microns, and dosage: 1 - 25%.
Almond nut shell, granules
Crushed almond shell is widely used in cosmetology as a soft abrasive for the skin. Crushed almond shell gently cleanses the skin, removes dead cells without damaging it. The skin becomes smoother and velvety to the touch. Cellular "breathing" of the skin also improves. Almond shell can be included in such cosmetics as: scrubs for the body, face and lips, soap scrubs, various peeling products.
Abrasive particles should also be selected according to the type and sensitivity of the skin. For example, coffee grounds are more suitable for oily skin, for thin dry skin of the face it will be too "harsh". And, for example, a handful of oatmeal, twisted in a meat grinder or ground in a coffee grinder - just right for dry skin of the face.
Bamboo Powder
Bamboo powder is a fine-grained white powder obtained from the core of the plant. Bamboo powder is a rich source of silicon, its content exceeds 90%. Bamboo powder, due to its biologically active properties, moisturizes the skin, saturates it with vitamins and microelements, improves tone, promotes cell renewal, stimulates collagen production, and gently exfoliates.
Jojoba Granules
Jojoba granules are spherical particles made from pre-hydrogenated jojoba wax (oil) obtained from Simmondsia Chinensis. The unique feature of jojoba granules as an abrasive component is that granules made from natural wax, in addition to the cleansing effect, simultaneously form a thin wax layer that nourishes and protects the renewed skin. The correct, spherical shape of the granules eliminates microtrauma to the skin during the cleansing process, allows for an exceptionally soft, non-traumatic, but at the same time effective abrasive effect. Jojoba granules are virtually odorless, stable to oxidation and do not require additional sterilization.
Features of using scrubs
It is better to use facial scrubs at night, especially in the sunny season. After using the scrub, the skin becomes more susceptible to sunlight and can become pigmented. After the scrub, you can also apply a mask according to your skin type or cream.
It is better to use body scrubs in the shower or in the bath: when the body is steamed, dead particles easily exfoliate and the skin, like a sponge, absorbs everything useful.
Home scrubs are ideal for independent "creativity", but do not overdo it with the frequency of their use, as well as with the zeal of scrubbing and the number of components. For dry and sensitive skin, it is enough to use a scrub once a week. For oily skin, scrubbing can be done twice a week.
Self-care is not only a path to beauty, but also one of the ways to find peace of mind. Home scrubs are a great way to feel much better without spending a tidy sum at a spa or beauty salon. The effect of this procedure is immediately noticeable: the skin begins to look much healthier, becomes soft and elastic. And normalizing blood circulation will not only improve its appearance, but also maintain health.
